No More Cash in Canteen
The Christ Church School Canteen will be cashfree from the start of Term 3. The innovative cashfree student account was introduced at the start of the year for purchases in the Canteen, eliminating the need for boys to carry cash to school. It is a highly secure card which, when scanned, produces the student’s name and photo on screen, preventing students from swapping or stealing cards. While students and parents have been getting used to the new system over the past two terms, cash has still been accepted. However, come the start of next term, cash will be completely phased out. Fifty years after enjoying her first canteen duty, Christ Church grandmother Rosemary Hodder has officially done her last duty as her grandson Ben finishes Year 12. But keen to stay involved in the School, and despite no longer having any sons or grandsons at the School, she said she would be happy to help out in the future if there weren’t enough mothers available. The Canteen, a service provided by the School and proudly supported by the Parents' Association, is located on the ground floor, eastern wing of the Student Refectory, and is open daily from Monday to Friday during term time.
The Canteen Service sells a variety of foods at morning recess and lunch time, in addition to providing pre-packed lunches for the Prep School. A menu is available for download on the website.
