The Vines Family Indigenous Scholarship
The Vines Family Indigenous Scholarship is the consequence of a gift to the School by Margaret and Roger Vines in 2007. It provides support to the value of 50% of the tuition fee and a place, should it be required, in the Residential Community. The scholarship will be awarded in 2010 for a boy entering the Senior School in 2011.
Margaret Vines taught at Christ Church in 1985, the year in which her son Russell was a school prefect. The scholarship is awarded to an indigenous student who demonstrates the capacity to develop the skills and abilities to provide leadership within the wider indigenous community. In addition, the following should apply:
- The recipient may enter the Senior School up to and including Year 10.
- The recipient will be a member of the Australian Indigenous community whose circumstances make them eligible for DEST funding.
- The recipient will be of good character, conscientious in his studies and demonstrate general excellence across the balance of a boy's life.
- The recipient will be able to benefit from the opportunities and facilities provided by the School.
- The Scholarship will be reviewed each year and is subject to satisfactory reports to the Headmaster of the student's work, co-curricular involvement and character.
- The Scholarship sits alongside other Indigenous Scholarships within the School and as such is awarded with this criteria in mind.
Final selections are made at the discretion of the Headmaster.
