Ethiopians Released From Pen After Student Campaign
Amnesty International has advised CCGS that the campaign by the school's AI letter writing group for the release of eight men detained in Ethiopia, and deemed at risk of torture, has been successful.
Group convener and head science teacher Julie Harris said‚ "We have just heard that all eight men have been released unconditionally and without charge.
"This is a great success for the boys who wrote to the Ethiopian government."
All boys from Years 8 to 12 are encouraged to join the group, which raises awareness about human rights issues in the school community.
"Anyone interested in joining us to write a letter on Wednesday lunchtimes in NB3 would be more than welcome," Mrs Harris said.
