CCGS Wins the 2007 Readers' Cup

Christ Church Preparatory School students know their books from cover to cover. A team of three Year 6 and 7 boys recently won the 2007 Readers’ Cup with a perfect score.

Competing against seven metropolitan primary schools, Nick Morlet, Harry Sanderson and Jeremy Forbes proved they were keenly attentive readers in a 20-question quiz on past and current books short-listed for the Children’s Book Council of Australia awards.

The Readers’ Cup, a joint initiative of Christ Church Grammar School and the-then Graylands Primary School, was launched in 2005 as a major event during Children’s Book Week.  Some 200 enthusiastic supporters attended this year’s event, with participating teams from MLC, Mosman Park Primary School, Mt Claremont Primary School, St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, Scotch College, Subiaco Primary School and Wesley College.

St Mary’s and Mt Claremont Primary School were joint runners-up on 18 points.
