From the Prep School
Head of the Prep School content
I often speak to the boys about our School Values at Chapel and Assembly. The one I highlighted at the Assembly of the last day of Term 2 was Excellence. The week included some exceptional displays of excellence by our boys. On the Wednesday three boys represented the School at the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) Speakers’ Challenge at Carmel School. The boys competed against 40 speakers from independent schools across Western Australia. On the night Sam Ng was awarded a Bronze Medal, Miguel Porteous was awarded a Silver Medal and James Tonnison was awarded a Gold Medal. James was then involved in a ‘grand champion’ round with the other Gold Medalists. James presented his speech ‘The Meaning of Life’ perfectly and won the Grand Champion Award. Well done to the three boys on excellent presentations.
On the Thursday our Inter School Cross Country team demonstrated excellence while defending their Junior PSA Championship with a tremendous team effort. The boys ran with great courage and enthusiasm and the results showed on the day: as we won by over 300 points. Finishing the week, on Friday the Annual Music Concert Assembly allowed our talented musicians to demonstrate excellence to the entire community. The performances were wonderful and my congratulations to the boys and staff involved, particularly Miss Seaman and Miss Harford for their hard work.
I look forward to welcoming all the boys back on Wednesday, as well as our staff and boys who were involved in the twenty-sixth annual Prep Ski Trip. All came home in one piece and I thank the staff that gave of their time during the first week of the holidays.
