New Senior School Staff 2008
Mr Chris Anderson BSc(Hons)(UNSW) GradDipEd(UWA) has been appointed to a full time position in the Information and Technology Services Department, effective 1 January 2008. Chris has previously worked as a software developer and initially experienced CCGS in his first practicum.
Ms Claire Bradley BA(IntArch)(Hons)(Curtin), MTeach (Notre Dame Aust) has been appointed to a full time position in the Art Department, effective 1 January 2008. Claire has taught in vastly different environments at schools across Perth and various schools across London over the past two years which has helped her to foster a motivated learning environment that celebrates integration, interaction and invention.
Ms Katie Finkemeyer BSc(Hons)(Exeter), MSc(Exeter), PGCE(Bath) has been appointed to a temporary position in the Science Department for 2008. Katie aims to create an atmosphere in which pupils feels safe and supported in the classroom. She is confident in her ability to assess the levels individuals are working at and guide, encourage and provide for their continued progress. Since arriving from England in 2007, Katie has been teaching swimming and water safety.
Mrs Bronwyn Fricke BA University of Stellenbach) BA(Hons)(University of Durban-Westville) GradDipEd(Univeristy of the Witwatersrand)) has been appointed to a temporary part time position in the English Department for 2008. Bronwyn has previously taught students in the middle school at a number of schools in Perth.
Ms Melanie Hazebroek BSc(UWA)GradDipED(ECU) has been appointed to a temporary full-time teaching position in the Science Department for the duration of the 2008 school year. Melanie, who has spent the last six years living and working in the United Kingdom, is looking forward to returning to Perth and working at Christ Church. She believes the School has the “appropriate balance between developing students as learners and allowing them to mature as individuals”. Melanie is proficient in using interactive whiteboards which will be a huge plus for the Science Department.
Mr Henning Holzheuer BA(UWA), GradDipEd(Curtin) has been appointed to a full time position in the Languages Department teaching French and German, effective from 1 January 2008. Henning has three years teaching experience at Kinross and Canning Vale Colleges and has published two bi-lingual German/English children’s story books aimed at German pre-primary and primary school children heading towards learning English.
Ms Diane Hooley BA(Hons)(Sheffield) has been appointed to a full time position in the Languages Department, effective 1 January 2008. Diane will teach German and has previously worked in the UK as a teacher for three years, as a form tutor and mentor of young adults through her local church.
Mr Kian Kuchak BSc BEng (UWA) who is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of Western Australia has accepted an a full-time teaching position in the Science Department. His focus will be Physics. While studying Kian tutored in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Human Biology with Clever Kids Education Centres.
Kian is also a junior youth animator with the Melville Community. Sponsored by the City of Melville and the Baha’i community of Melville this position requires that he provides and facilitates junior youth programs for 12 to 15 years olds with the following objectives: academic and spiritual excellence; recreation; and service to humanity.
Mrs Amanda McGillivray BSc/Eng(Hons)(Curtin), GradDipEd(Murdoch) has been appointed to a temporary position in the Mathematics Department for Term 1, 2008. Amanda will replace Robin Dunn who is taking long service leave. Amanda is currently studying towards a post graduate diploma in Environmental Engineering.
Ms Phillipa Nock BA GradDipModLang(UWA) DipEd(WASTC) CELTA(ECU) has been appointed to the part-time position of teaching Chinese and French Conversation in theu. This appointment is effective from 1 January – 31 December 2008. Phillipa has taught in a country secondary school for over 9 years and has two sons who are recent Old Boys of Christ Church.
Ms Toni Reberger DipTeach(WAIT) BEd(ECU) has been appointed to a temporary full time position as Co-ordinator of the Peter Moyes Centre (Senior School), effective 1 January – 31 December 2008. This position will cover the current Co-ordinator whilst she is on maternity leave. Toni has been teaching for almost twenty-five years in WA, Papua New Guinea, Africa and Vanuatu. She believes that every student has a right to a quality education in a safe, nurturing and motivating environment.
Ms Gemma Slater BA(Hons)(UWA) GradDipEd(UWA) has been appointed to a full time position in the English Department, effective 1 January 2008. Gemma has 12 years teaching experience and previously taught at Princess Margaret Hospital facilitating English learning programmes to an extensive and eclectic student base. In addition, she delivers lectures in Communications for first year Science and Engineering students at Curtin University.
Ms Claire Wood BA(Med&Comm)(Uni Melb) GradCertArts GradDipEd(UWA) has been appointed to a temporary teaching position in the English Department for the duration of 2008. Claire will complete her studies in 2007 and her objectives as an English teacher are to inspire, motivate and empower students to reach their full potential, not only academically, but also in their wider personal growth.
