At the end of August, Mark Morrissy (1979) Director of Planning and Co-curricular and teacher of 25 years at Christ Church, and Principal Alan Jones travelled to Sydney and Melbourne to host evenings with old boys and partners, parents (former, current and future) and friends of Christ Church. The events provided guests with the opportunity to connect with members of the School community, meet the new Principal and engage in dialogue regarding the current and future plans for the School.

There was a strong sense of community at both events and as the nights progressed and more stories about the past emerged, it became apparent that there is a desire for many to maintain their connection with the School’s history and also to be connected to its exciting future.

Alan thoroughly enjoyed the evening and commented that a consistent story, on both evenings, was the formation in each city of a strong ‘community of old boys’ which is wonderful as it provides support, opportunities for networking on a personal and professional level and a space where our past students can come together and be nostalgic about their formative years.

Interestingly, many old boys stated they would eventually return to Perth to raise their families and that their sons would be attending Christ Church as they want their boys to experience a Christ Church education. Alan also spoke of the Old Boys’ Centenary in 2017 and many of the attendees indicated they planned to attend the old boys’ event on 1 July 2017.
