The Anglican Archbishop of Perth Roger Herft confirmed 18 members of the Christ Church Grammar School community at the weekend.

Fourteen current students, along with two parents and two sisters of students, took part in the confirmation ceremony held in the School Chapel.

Canon Frank Sheehan, who prepared the group for the confirmation, said the Archbishop conducted the ceremony in a beautiful and relaxed manner. “He took time out at the beginning to tell the congregation something about himself and then clearly and carefully explained the meaning of confirmation,” Canon Sheehan said.

As one parent described: “We were buoyed by the warmth of the whole service. The Archbishop was so honest about his own journey and inspiring to all... young and old.”

Canon Sheehan said he was delighted with the evening. “As an Anglican school, we treasure these occasions which remind us that we are members of a vast and vibrant church,” he said. “The whole evening was a celebration of faith, hope and love. We were all strengthened by it.”
