Special Moments for Fathers and Sons
Around 300 Year 8 boys and fathers listened to the insightful words of Professor Bruce Robinson this week while enjoying a cooked breakfast in the School Refectory.
Christ Church Headmaster Garth Wynne said the Year 8 Father and Son Breakfast was a great tradition within the School, as were the Year 10 Mother and Son and Year 12 Father and Son events. “They celebrate the significance of parents as partners in the education process,” Mr Wynne said.
Guest speaker Prof Robinson has been speaking on the topic of work and family life to students and professional and community groups for many years. He is all too familiar with the challenges of working ‘in the fast lane’. As a father of three, he has had to balance his family life with the pressures of being a practising lung specialist, leading a large team studying specific cancers, teaching medical students and attending international conferences.
At the breakfast, Prof Robinson spoke about the importance of fathers spending special moments with their sons and making the effort to do so. “We were very fortunate to have Prof Robinson talk at the breakfast,” Mr Wynne said. “He has such a great background and has had a lot to do with fathering projects.”
