The annual club membership fee covers the cost of running the club, entries to club time trials as well as providing members insurance coverage whilst at club and Swimming WA or Australia events. The club aims to provide the opportunity and development of swimmers that enjoy the competitive swimming arena, whether it is to achieve the highest possible level or any other personally set goals.

The club fees do not cover any training costs. Kirby Swim and other swimming programmes that offer experienced coaching will charge their own fees to cover the swimmers training and preparation for swimming competition. At times, however, the club may offer some specific training/clinics for its members to assist in their preparation. The club will also assist when possible in any travel, competition or training costs to its members as deemed appropriate by the club committee.

Coaches will communicate the “Target Meets” for the swimmers to enter. These are the swimming meets that the coaches believe will offer the swimmers the best in terms of racing experience and exposure. Coaches plan the training sessions and the intensity of each week based on when the target meets are within the calendar. Swimmers can however opt to swim in other meets run by Swimming WA as they wish.

It is important that swimmers and their parents are aware of when these swimming meets are and when the closing date is for entries. The club or coach is not responsible for swimmers entries. All entries need to be handed to the club office or the Club Registrar before the clubs entries closing date specific to that particular swimming meet. A comprehensive calendar of events is available in the WA Swimming’s annual ALMANAC, available on line (www.wa.swimming.org.au), or members can use the Meets Calendar published by the Club Head Coach.

As well as “Target Meets” club members will be encouraged to swim in the Club’s Time Trials and Club Championships which will be held at Christ Church Grammar School pool. The club will organise and officiate approximately 10 time trials every year. To run successful club nights, the club requires parent volunteers to assist with time keeping and recording. It is important that as many parents possible offer support to the club and participate in the Swimming WA Officiating.

It should also be noted that at WA Swimming events where we have a number of swimmers competing, the club will be asked to provide time keepers to assist in running the meet. All time keepers at these events need to have completed a ‘Time Keepers’ course provided by WA Swimming (usually held 30 minutes before the Swimming meet commences).
