CCGS Back-to-Back JPSSA Swimming Champions
The Preparatory School Swimming Team defended its 2010 title at the JPSSA Swimming Carnival held at Challenge Stadium last week.
In a tough contest, Christ Church won on 602 points ahead of Trinity on 577 and Scotch on 568. Wesley, Hale, Aquinas and Guildford followed respectively.
The Year 4 Freestyle Relay Team also set a new JPSSA record, breaking the previous record by more than 14 seconds in a time of 2:39.17.
Prep School Sportsmaster Brady Leckie said the CCGS squad, comprised of Year 4 to 6 boys, performed extremely well. “The team was leading for most of the division events as we headed into the relay section with a strong 20-point advantage. The boys extended their overall lead to clinch back-to-back titles - demonstrating the great depth in our swimming squad.”
Mr Leckie congratulated the boys and thanked head coach Bill Kirby for his efforts in preparing the squad.
