The LW Parry Preparatory School Swimming Team remains undefeated after winning the JPSSA Swimming Carnival at Challenge Stadium on Tuesday night. It is the third consecutive year the Prep swimmers have won the event since the carnival’s inception in 2010.
Prep School Sportsmaster Brady Leckie said despite the squad being hit by illness, the boys toughed it out to win ahead of Wesley, Scotch, Hale, Guildford and Trinity (tied), and Aquinas. He said it was a terrific effort by the squad of Year 4 to 6 boys.
The night was off to a great start with Christ Church winning six of the first seven backstroke events. The team also dominated the freestyle relays winning in all year levels with the Year 5 Freestyle Relay Team also setting a new JPSSA record. The Year 5 boys maintained their dominance throughout the carnival, finishing in the top two places in every stroke and relay.
Mr Leckie said the result was outstanding. “The carnival’s point system rewards team swimming so the end result is really a reward of the boys’ teamwork and performing bravely on the night,” he said.
School Captain Adam Sudlow and Angus Kitto were presented with the shield at the conclusion of the carnival.
