The Year 5/6 Football Team won the JPSSA Eagles Cup after remaining undefeated all season. Last week, West Coast Eagles player Andrew Embley presented the team with the cup and shared some football stories from his own school days.

Year 6 boys Marc Boyatzis (captain) and Milan Murdock (vice-captain) were rapt to receive the Eagles Cup on behalf of their team at Mt Claremont last Thursday. Andrew then spoke to the boys about the AFL followed by a question and answer session.

Preparatory School Sportsmaster Brady Leckie said the boys had an outstanding season playing terrific, team-oriented football. “Traditionally we haven't been a strong AFL school but the future looks bright,” he said.

Mr Leckie said the boys delivered some fantastic questions at Andrew – asking him about the feeling of winning a premiership and a Norm Smith Medal at the grand final in 2006. “They also talked about who inspired Andrew growing up, school football (Andrew played for Trinity and remembered kicking 10 goals against Christ Church at Mt Claremont) and the ‘mateship’ that football offers,” he said.

To add to the excitement, Eagles Vision took some footage that will be aired before the Eagles game on Channel 7 this weekend. Marc and Louis Youd (5JG) were both filmed speaking to Andrew on camera.
