Year 7s Fly High
Year 7 students lined up against one of the biggest men in AFL football when West Coast Eagles Dean Cox and CCGS old boy Eric Mackenzie (2001-2006) visited the School this week.
Dean and Eric led a coaching clinic followed by a question and answer session with their eager and inquisitive audience. The boys had lots of good questions for the players, who spoke about participation, sportsmanship, respect and healthy lifestyle.
Eric, brother of Year 11 student Patrick Mackenzie, was drafted to the Eagles in 2006 and played his first AFL match against Port Adelaide in round 15 of last year. He showed excellent form with Claremont in the WAFL and looks set for more senior opportunities in 2008 following a return from injury.
During the training session, Charlie Evans (Year 7) took a tumble after attempting a screamer off the boot of the big ruckman.
