Guy’s app wins Young Innovator of the Year award
Guy Barrington (Year 12) has won the Smartphone App category of the WA Young Innovator of the Year Award for his development of an app that shows how bacteria respond and evolve when subjected to doses of antibiotics.
Accounting challenge gives top students an edge
Last term, four of Christ Church’s top accounting and finance students attended the Accounting Student Challenge at Curtin University run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Business Educators of WA.
Harry and Luke at top of their creative game
Two Senior School students are finalists in two State and local competitions. Harry Smallbone (Year 12) was a finalist in The West Australian Young Writers’ Contest and Luke Kolbusz (Year 11) is a finalist in the 2012 Subiaco Photographic Awards.
Year 10 boys complete university course as senior lecturer pays homage
Five Year 10 students have successfully completed a first-year university computer science course with one scoring a high distinction. At last week’s assembly, University of New South Wales (UNSW) senior lecturer Richard Buckland presented the boys with their certificates and gave a memorable address to the Senior School.
Christ Church ranks amongst top schools in global language battle
Christ Church boys were among more than 100,000 students around the world to take part in a cyber battle to become the world champion of languages. The School finished 13th globally, sixth in Australia and second in WA in the recent Language Perfect World Championships.
Ashwin’s defining moment wins National History Challenge
Year 11 student Ashwin Ramanathan was among the top performers in the 2011 National History Challenge. Ashwin’s essay on a defining moment in the history, won both national and State awards, which were presented at Parliament House, in Canberra, in December.
