CCGS Makes Headlines in Japan
Christ Church boys were the talk of Hotoku Gakuen High School during their tour of Japan over the school holidays.
The boys featured regularly in the school’s newsletter during their six-day, homestay exchange at the high school – be it in the classroom, on the sumo ring or at assembly.
The tour group, including 17 boys and three staff members, spent four days taking in the sights of Tokyo, followed by five days of walking, cycling and temple visits in Kyoto prior to their exchange at the school. Headmaster Garth Wynne made his debut at Hotoku to catch up with the boys, meet the school’s headmaster and thank staff for their hospitality.
Over the years, Japanese teacher Mike Armstrong has developed the Japan tour into a highly anticipated event and forged strong relations with Hotoku Gakuen High School. The homestay exchange programme has been running successfully since 1988.
