Economics Students Gain Insight from Budget Analyst
Year 12 Economics students gained an insight into fiscal policy during a Federal Budget Briefing to WA held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The student event, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia, followed an earlier briefing to Perth business leaders.
Head of Economics and Commerce Andrew Greig said it was the first time the institute had offered the event. Professor Neville Norman, from the University of Melbourne, presented the briefing to 300 students and teachers with an aim of increasing their understanding of how the economy works.
Mr Greig said all 37 Year 12 Economics students attended the event, which provided a great introduction into the boys’ next unit on fiscal policy. He said Professor Norman’s analysis of current economic trends and his past predications gave the boys a real insight into government spending and tax.
