Year 7s Become Solo Researchers
An exciting research project called Solo Enterprise has taught a group of Year 7 students how to become specialists in a topic of their choice.
Senior Teacher Librarian Greg Lindorff and Teacher Librarians Helen Knight and Margaret Chapple have been providing support by teaching the boys information and research skills in the CLC Library.
As part of the project, the students also have been creating their own websites.
Mr Lindorff explained that the Solo Enterprise activity was a year-long project for the boys and engaged them in a subject of their personal interest.
“We challenged them to become an expert in a particular topic that they had chosen and there were a gambit of topics – from helicopters, battles and wars to the workings of the lungs and the history of saxophones,” he said.
“We also gave them a booklet that taught the boys how to research and included focus questions to guide them through the process.”
