2007 Leaver Sings Perfect Score
When 2007 leaver Thomas Friberg took his place in front of TEE Music performance examiners last year – he was hoping for the best. After receiving a breakdown of his TEE Music results recently, Thomas discovered he had achieved 100 per cent in his performance exam.
The baritone singer, who scored an overall TER of 99.50, described his faultless performance as “pretty cool”. “I felt good about it at the time but I didn’t think it would be that good,” he said.
Thomas was pleased when the examiners asked him to perform The Vagabond by Ralph Vaughan Williams, one of six prepared pieces he had to learn and his favourite among them.
While his school days at CCGS may be over, Thomas is still seen around campus in study lab tutoring students and as a swimming coach with Kirby Swim.
Thomas, who begins an Advanced Science degree and a Diploma of Music at UWA early next month, made an appearance at last week’s Senior School Assembly to perform The Vagabond. He will perform the piece, along with the other top WA music and drama students from 2007 as part of the Performing Arts Perspective 2008 at His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday 11 March. Tickets are available through BOCS Ticketing.
