Christ Church Helps Christchurch

Wolsey students fired up the barbecue recently to help raise money for victims of the Christchurch Earthquake.

Year 11 student Michael Salvaris, inspired by the idea of ‘Christ Church helping Christchurch’, enlisted fellow Year 11 Wolseymen to hold a sausage sizzle at lunchtime to raise funds.

Head of House Neil Saggers, a seasoned overseer of sausage sizzles, said Michael and the boys raised $612 from the event, which was donated through the ANZ Bank’s appeal.

Mr Saggers said Michael’s initiative to raise money for the earthquake appeal was over and above house fundraising for charity. Last year’s Wolsey Walk raised more than $7000 for Anglicare’s Christmas Appeal. The annual charity walk is held in November.
