House Swimming Carnival 2017

This year’s Senior School House Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday 21 February in the indoor pool at HBF Stadium (formerly Challenge). The stadium has very good facilities for swimmers and spectators and we anticipate an excellent night of competition.

Parents are welcome to attend and are asked to sit behind the boys in House areas at either the southern or northern side of the pool. The seating surrounding the pool can be uncomfortable, so it is suggested parents bring a cushion. Alcohol consumption is not permitted. A map of the venue seating can be viewed here.

Programs will be available from the announcer’s desk on the pool deck or you can download the list of events.

Parking will be available on the eastern side of the stadium (McGillivray Road) near the McGillivray Pavilions. If parking on this side, please use the McGillivray entrance. Parking and entry is also available at the front (western side) of the facility. HBF Stadium is a busy place at this time, so an early arrival is suggested to avoid missing the start. Public transport to the stadium is limited.

The stadium charges an entrance fee of $3.50 for all non-student spectators. Cashiers are located at both entry points.

School buses will provide transport for the boys to and from the stadium from school. The buses leave school at 5.00pm and leave the stadium at approximately 9.15pm. Boys wishing to travel on the school buses are asked to advise their Head of House.

Boys travelling by car should ensure return transport is arranged prior to the carnival as there are several pick up points around the arena.

All students in Years 7 to 12 are expected to attend the carnival. The dress for all boys is House singlet/polo shirt, school tracksuit pants or navy blue shorts, white socks and joggers. All boys must wear school bathers when competing. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

The pool will be open to swimmers from 5.30pm with the program commencing at 6.00pm. Swimmers may enter the diving pool for warm-ups from 5.40pm.

Drinks and snacks will be available from kiosks along the main concourse. You may wish to take your own food and drinks to avoid queues.

It is anticipated that the carnival, including the presentation of trophies, will be completed by 9.10pm. All boys are expected to remain seated in their House area until they are dismissed by their Head of House at the end of the carnival.

This year we will be broadcasting the carnival live on a YouTube channel. Follow the link to this address https://www.youtube.com/user/4stylemedia/live

We look forward to seeing you there.
