The Prep boys and staff have already dived into the exciting activities and events of Term 4. Please view the school calendar or read your son’s school diary to plan for the exciting events coming up. The four most significant events of Term 4 include the Awards Assembly on 3 November, Orientation Day on 17 November, Pre-Primary to Year 2 Nativity on 24 November, and Speech Morning (all Years 3 to 6 boys) on 1 December. The academic year concludes for Pre-Primary to Year 2 boys on Thursday, 30 November and after Speech Morning for Years 3 to 6. The Pre-Primary to Year 2 boys are welcome to attend Speech Morning with a parent or guardian.

As always, it is critical that all parents read the year group notices as there are a number of excursions, activities and events of which you need to be aware.

A final reminder that we are presently constructing classes for 2018. I would ask that if you wish to inform us of any factor you believe we may be unaware, please do so in writing, including email, to me by 16 October. We aim to balance the classes in terms of academic, social strength and need. It is a complex process and discussion, however rest assured, we have each boy’s, and the collective cohort’s, best interests at heart. As with all decisions at Christ Church we ask, what is the best decision for the boys?

Any information I receive I forward to the Chair of the Class List Panel. The class lists are devised by the Class List Panel comprised of the Director of Studies (Chair), Director of Pastoral Care, Planning and Co-curricular, Co-ordinator of the Learning Development Centre, Co-ordinator of the Peter Moyes Centre, a representative from Psychological and Counselling Services and the present year’s class teachers.

I respectfully ask that parents do not request a specific class teacher. As stated above, we will place each boy in a class with the peers and teacher we believe are best for him. We have a consistently excellent standard within our staff and each teacher brings her or his own strengths and personality to the class. I would ask you to maintain trust in the School, knowing we want the same positive outcome for your son. Additionally, individual class teacher year group placements have not yet been decided.

We are currently planning our Kooringal Family Day for Sunday 22 October. The day offers an opportunity for Christ Church families to get together and enjoy a fun day out at our Outdoor Education Centre based in Dwellingup. Event details can be viewed here and I invite all Christ Church families to participate.
