The Aquatics program at Christ Church includes swimming and water polo. It is an inclusive program where all boys are welcome to train and compete for a spot in the inter-school swimming team.
Over the years, the School has built a strong swimming culture with an impressive record of success in the PSA Inter-School Swimming Carnival. Boys train and compete in swimming during Term 1. Training is held at the Christ Church pool with the House Swimming Carnival and PSA-Inters held in the evening at HBF Stadium. Over the past eleven years the school has won the Dr K G Tregonning Cup on seven occasions.
The School’s Head Swimming Coach is former Olympian and old boy Bill Kirby OAM (Class of 1992), who won a gold medal for Australia in the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Bill also runs Kirby Swim School out of the Christ Church pool.
Our water polo players benefit from the strength of the School’s swimming team as they compete for the Dickinson Shield. Water polo is played during Terms 1 and 4 and boys train at the UWA pool. Fixtures are played at various pools.
First VI Coach and old boy Scott Chrystal (Class of 2006), who played in seven national championships for Australia as well as the national men’s league, has coached the team to three victories and finishing no lower than 3rd in his time with the team.
