Service & Leadership
At Christ Church, your son will develop a sense of social responsibility and a commitment to serving others that will guide him in life.
Activities are designed to broaden their perspective of the world they live in, expose them to those more needy than themselves and provide opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life. It involves each student demonstrating a willingness to give time and effort to benefit individuals or groups without expecting return or reward.
Service learning opportunities in Years 7 to 12 include numerous fundraising, House, School and Service in Action (SIA) focus activities as well as a strong Centre for Ethics program. In Years 10 and 11, boys can choose from service cadet programs, including Army Cadets, Surf Life Saving or Environment and Community (ENCOMM). In Year 12, students can apply to become special needs companions for children with disabilities over three days as part of the School’s annual Sony Camp.
Leadership opportunities abound and begin through supporting positive relationships with peers and sporting and activity groups.
As boys move through the Senior School they will learn about types of leadership, the qualities of good leaders and how to develop their individual skills in this area. The Year 11 Leadership program teaches them they have the capacity to make a difference in a variety of spheres and how to develop their expertise, which they can take into the workforce and beyond.
