Beauty of the Dusk Matthew Darley, Year 10 The stars slumber in the expanse of the twilight, Gentle darkness a beacon to the close of day, And the cosmos waltzes to the song of midnight. And the moon, a great crucible, pours its stream of radiant white, A lustrous blanket upon the Earth, washing the remnants of the day away. The stars slumber in the expanse of the twilight. Comets pierce the deep dusk, brilliant orbs of ice in flight, Showers of meteors painting dazzling depictions, eager not to stay, And the cosmos waltzes to the song of midnight. The dewy grass below glistens still, despite the absence of daylight, All oaks, elms and willows swaying peacefully in the silver grey, The stars slumber in the expanse of the twilight. The sun rages behind the Earth, to rid night of its limelight, But solar wind only creates the beautiful aurora, a luminous bouquet, And the cosmos waltzes to the song of midnight. The aspects of the night in harmony prove an elegant sight, A truly enthralling display, The stars slumber in the expanse of the twilight, And the cosmos waltzes to the song of midnight.
