The School Executive is responsible for Policy development for Council consideration, overall planning and direction, and the management of the School in all its key areas of operation.
Alan Jones
Principal
Alan Jones commenced as the first Principal of Christ Church Grammar School in 2016. Prior to this he held executive roles at The Hutchins School in Hobart, Mentone Girls’ Grammar School, Haileybury and Huntingtower School all located in Melbourne, Victoria.
Alan is responsible for shaping a vision of academic success for all students and creating a culture and climate that facilitates education resulting in the building of good men. He works closely with the entire team at the School to cultivate and improve leadership, overall guiding the School to better teaching and learning with the goal of preparing the boys for their roles in a globally connected world.
In 2016 Alan successfully initiated the School’s membership with the Council of International Schools (CIS), a global organisation committed to providing students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens and with a commitment to high quality international education. Christ Church is the first School in Western Australia to receive this membership.
Jamie Foster
Deputy Principal
Head of Senior School
Jamie joined Christ Church Grammar School in 2005 as a Japanese teacher and has worked in the English and Humanities Departments. He spent seven years in the Walters Residential Community, as well as four years as the Indigenous Program Co-ordinator. He was appointed as the Head of Noake House in 2014 and has been actively involved in our sporting program since joining the School.
Dr Steven Males
Head of Preparatory School
Steven is passionate about educating boys having worked in this field for over 20 years. Steven leads the teaching, learning and pastoral care at the Preparatory School. Highlighting his strong interest in boys’ education, Steven completed his PhD titled One-to-one laptop program: Effect on boys’ education at the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2015.
Prior to joining Christ Church, Steven was the Head of Junior School at Aquinas College (2005 to 2018), and has been a sessional lecturer at the University of Notre Dame since 2017.
Mahendra Vaswani
Deputy Principal
Director of Studies
Mahendra joined Christ Church in 2018 and leads the School’s ongoing pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. He is responsible for the Senior School curriculum, timetabling, staffing, assessment and reporting, scholarships, academic prizes and awards. Mahendra has nearly two decades of teaching experience including roles at Trinity College and 14 years at Hale School, where he was Director of Teaching and Learning and Head of Mathematics. He is passionate about catering to students of all abilities and is an ardent advocate of data-informed feedback for learning.
Lachlan Hall
Deputy Head of Senior School
Planning and Co-Curricular
Lachlan has a decade of teaching experience in schools across Perth, most recently serving as the School’s Head of the Centre for Excellence.
Lachlan is responsible overseeing the planning, organisation, and delivery of the School’s comprehensive co-curricular programs and activities as well as providing key support to the Head of Senior School.
Lana King
Director of Human Resources and Strategic Projects
Lana King is responsible for supporting the Principal in establishing and facilitating our strategic intent and working closely with all staff in the area of appraisal and professional development. Bringing over 25 years of experience in leadership roles within both the private and public sectors, she specialises in Human Resources. Her most recent position was as Director of People & Culture at Lotterywest. Lana holds a Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management, Business Law) from the University of Western Australia. Her extensive background uniquely positions her to lead in this role. Her son is currently a student at Christ Church.
Joanne Wheeler
Director of Communication, Engagement & Advancement
Joanne is responsible for the marketing of Christ Church and the development of the School community. She oversees admissions, alumni, marketing and public relations, publications, parent support group liaison and the archives areas of the School. Joanne has more than 15 years experience in corporate communication, including executive roles in the finance, construction and insurance sectors.
Geoffrey Alagoda
Director of Information and Learning Technologies
Geoff is responsible for the planning and administration of Information Communication and Technology Services within the School. His goal is to ensure staff and students have every opportunity to excel in their chosen field by providing for their technological needs.
Philippa Quigley
Chief Financial Officer
Philippa oversees the business affairs of the School, including all financial matters, and the development and maintenance of the School’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. She also manages major and minor building projects and serves as Secretary to the School Council and its sub-committees. As a Chartered Accountant with significant corporate sector experience, she has worked in Aberdeen, London, Calgary, and Perth. Philippa holds a Master’s Degree in Accountancy and Finance with Honours from the University of Aberdeen. Her twin boys currently attend Christ Church.
The Reverend Nicholas Russell
School Chaplain
The Reverend Nicholas Russell has been involved in ministry to youth for over 25 years. He previously held the position of Chaplain at Tara Anglican School for Girls in Parramatta and was curate at St Clement’s Anglican Church in Mosman, Sydney.
Nicholas is a teacher by profession, has taught English before training for ministry and has continued to do so while involved in school chaplaincy. He has also taught Religious Education (RE) at both Tara and Christ Church.
In addition to his teaching qualifications, he holds a Bachelor of Divinity with First-Class Honours and is a keen guitarist.
Nicholas and his wife Penelope have three young sons attending Christ Church Grammar School.
