Christ Church Grammar School, one of Western Australia’s leading independent boys’ schools, is seeking a dynamic leader, excellent administrator and exemplary teacher to lead the Humanities Department in the Senior School (Years 7 to 12).

This position will commence in Term 1, 2018.

At Christ Church, Humanities indicates the broad and encompassing philosophies embraced by the department and its staff in interpreting and implementing the Curriculum Framework in the subject areas of Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History in Year 7 to 10, and Accounting and Finance, Ancient History, Economics, Geography, Modern History, Philosophy and Ethics, Politics and Law and Careers and Enterprise in Year 11 and 12.   In addition this position has a particular focus on cultivating 21st century global capacities in the curriculum, classroom practices and culture across the School.

At the heart of this role is the understanding that the needs and aspirations of boys and parents are critical to our leadership and management function and that our primary focus is the creation of a fulfilling learning and teaching environment for boys and staff.

This Head of Department position will have responsibility for curriculum leadership and management of Humanities in the Senior School (Years 7 to 12).  The Head of Humanities currently leads a team of 16 experienced specialist teachers who have the capacity to teach Humanities from Years 7 to 12.  This position is supported by three Assistant Heads of Department.

It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be an astute manager of people, able to draw the best out of colleagues.  This position offers an attractive remuneration package and the School provides exceptional professional development opportunities.

The Director of Pastoral Care, Planning and Co-curricular / Deputy Head of the LW Parry Preparatory School is responsible to the Principal through the Head of the LW Parry Preparatory School for overseeing the Pastoral Care policies and procedures and the planning and management of the Preparatory School programs and events.

This position will commence in Term 1, 2018.

The Director’s role is pivotal to the pastoral care of the Preparatory School students and to the efficient operation of the School. It is a position that requires an exceptional level of knowledge pertaining to boys’ education, pastoral care practices and policies and organisational ability combined with management skill.  It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be an astute manager of people, able to draw the best out of colleagues.

The position demands leadership and initiative for the benefit of boys and staff as the School pursues our mission and the current strategic plan.  The Director will be expected to teach 12 periods per cycle (0.2 FTE) in an area of expertise and/or need, as directed by the Head of the LW Parry Preparatory School, and fully support the co-curricular program of the School.
