Christ Church was narrowly beaten by Trinity College for second place in the PSA Swimming at HBF Stadium last week. The team, who finished third by half a point, was highly competitive and represented the School proudly.

Teacher in Charge of Aquatics Luke Farmer said both he and Head Coach Bill Kirby were extremely proud of the swimmers for their dedicated preparation in the lead up to the event and their performance on the night.

“Our strong swimming culture at Christ Church was once again on display. While we only managed to win one individual race (Ben Cunningham, Under 16 50m Breaststroke), we still finished third overall,” Mr Farmer said.

“Our relays were the area that let the team down and meant we did not finish higher in the overall placings. A greater work ethic and will to improve our training is required if we are to reach our potential in 2016.”

Mr Farmer thanked the coaching staff, age group managers and parents for supporting the boys, in particular Karen and Howard Mitchell for their organisation and support.

Captain of Swimming Lawrence Mitchell also thanked the boys, staff and families who helped and supported the team this season: “We loved our final season as much as our first and we have many happy memories; boys with Valentine’s chocolates, carrying pizzas, cheering loudly and swimming fast; parents and friends timekeeping, blowing up balloons and baking pasta; coaches and managers so well organised, praising and encouraging great efforts.”
