Last week we welcomed old boy and AFL superstar Angus Sheldrick (’21) to our Preparatory Sports Assembly. Angus presented the Summer and Winter Sport Awards, Athletics, Swimming, and Cross Country Champions, and The Potter Cup.

Angus gave a speech about his sporting journey at Christ Church, weaving tales of triumphs and challenges that ultimately shaped his career as a professional athlete. His success is a testament to the transformative experiences here at school, serving as a powerful inspiration for current students.

His parting key pieces of advice to students included:

  • Try as many sports as you can, for as long as you can. Don’t pigeonhole yourself into one sport, give everything a go as this will help you to develop athleticism and discover where your passions lie.
  • Set clear goals and work hard to achieve them
  • Make the most of the opportunities available to you at Christ Church, as there is no better or more supportive place for you to be during this time of your life

Angus presented Year 6 student Oliver Swann with the Potter Cup for Best All-Round Junior Sportsman, along with Fairest and Best medals in AFL and Water Polo, Champion Boy in Athletics and Swimming and Runner Up Champion Boy in Cross Country.
