This term our Year 6 students dug deep into their family history to present a ‘Migration Museum’.

The project involved the boys researching the migration story of a close relative as part of their current History unit. They then had the opportunity to present their research in the form of a ‘suitcase story’ museum exhibit, with artefacts and mementos from their families.

Amongst the historical artefacts on display were black and white wedding photos, tattered passports with exotic travel stamps, university degrees and even a hat belonging to a soldier in the New South Wales Corps which travelled with the Second Fleet.

Year 6 Teacher Ms Joanna Morrison Mayo commented on the project, “We are hoping that this project helps the boys appreciate the wonderful cultural diversity we have here at Christ Church, while exploring the stories of the many people who have migrated to Australia.”
