There was great excitement last night for Angus Sheldrick and his family when his name was read out in the first round of the 2021 AFL draft. The 2021 graduate was selected by the Sydney Swans with pick 18 in Wednesday night’s draft. Angus managed his surprise well while watching along at home with his family “If you told me I was going to be a first-round draft pick this time last year, I would’ve been stunned. For it just to happen, even if it was the last pick in the draft, it doesn’t matter where you go, it just matters what you make of the opportunity. I’m so pleased, I can’t even put it into words.”

Director of Sport Anthony Lynch says “Angus has worked extremely hard to improve and it’s a credit to him and the coaches at the School that he has been able to become an elite athlete.”

Sheldrick was selected after outstanding performances for Christ Church and his WAFL side Claremont this season. The midfielder joins recent Old Boys Liam Henry (Fremantle) and Tim English (Western Bulldogs) in the AFL for season 2022.
