If you were in Hadley Hall on Saturday night, you would have felt the buzz before the first note was played. More than 600 people, including families, students, Old Boys, staff and friends, filled the auditorium for Soli ’26, making it the biggest audience the event has welcomed.

At the heart of the evening were our 12 Year 12 soloists: Oliver Chi, Aden Frias, Jeremy Gweja, Sam Meyer, Jack Pearce, Joshua Ransom, Joel Renouf, Max Tsokos, Lachie Winby, Nathan Wong, Oliver Wright and Thom Yates.

They performed alongside students from our Rock and Jazz Bands, Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, with the program moving between classical, jazz and contemporary music. Across the evening, the stage featured an impressive range of instruments, from piano, violin and cello to guitar, drums, trumpet, saxophone and bassoon.

Nights like this are years in the making. Across their time at Christ Church, our musicians have spent countless hours rehearsing, performing in different ensembles and developing their confidence as musicians. Soli brings all of that experience together on one stage, giving students the opportunity to perform as soloists and as part of the ensembles they have grown with throughout their time at the School.

It was a night of celebration, but also a bittersweet one for our Year 12 musicians. Soli ’26 marked their final major performance at the School. The evening culminated in Joel Renouf’s performance of Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, bringing the night to a fitting close.

Soli ’26 was a celebration of music, community and the years of work behind each performance. In a few years, performances like this will have a new home in PERFORM, where future generations of musicians will take to the stage and share their music with our community.
