Rowing crews shine at Christ Church Regatta
Published on: 19 February 2026
Last weekend, Christ Church delivered an impressive performance at the Christ Church Regatta held at Champion Lakes, finishing second overall on points. The result reflects the depth and talent of our crews across the rowing program.
The 10B VIII and 4th VIII recorded victories, while the 1st VIII and 3rd VIII both secured second-place finishes in tightly contested racing. Aquinas took home the Garth Wynne Trophy in the 1st VIII.
A standout moment of the day was the christening of the new Year 9A Quad, named the “Bergsma Family.” The naming recognises the exceptional contribution of the Bergsma family to Christ Church rowing. Glenn Bergsma served as the Don Fraser Club (DFC) President for two years, both sons Chase (’19) and Jackson (’20), rowed in the 1st VIII and later coached, and Allie has been a consistent and generous supporter in the shed. It was a fitting tribute to a family whose dedication has shaped the culture of rowing at the School.
We extend our thanks the rowing coaches, and to the DFC parents for hosting a well-run and highly successful regatta.
