Christ Church Sailing Team makes waves at National Championships
Published on: 24 July 2025
During the final week of the holidays, our Christ Church Sailing Team proudly represented the School at the 2025 Australian Secondary Schools Team Sailing Championships, held at the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club in South Australia.
The team earned their place at the national event after securing first place at the WA Schools Teams Sailing Regatta in April.
Facing cold, challenging conditions and a highly competitive field of top school teams from across the country, the Christ Church sailors demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and resilience, ultimately finishing 10th overall.
The team was comprised of students from Years 8 to 12:
Isaac Bizco (Year 12), Elliot Yong (Year 11), Joshua Ransom (Year 11), Lucas Mackellar (Year 10), Felix Valentine (Year 9), Zach Lee (Year 9), William Whitehead (Year 8), and Jayden Epari (Year 8).
A special thank you goes to old boy Sam Rose (’21), who returned as coach for the event. His leadership and experience played a pivotal role in supporting and guiding the team throughout the four-day regatta. It is always inspiring to see our old boys returning to contribute to the life of the School and help nurture future generations of students.
Sincere thanks are also extended to support staff Anna Freedman and Hailey Mainwaring, as well as the dedicated parents whose encouragement and behind-the-scenes efforts were vital in making this experience both successful and memorable.
