Year 12 student Morgan Klug was recently awarded as one of two winners of The West Australian’s Young Travel Writer 2020 competition.

Morgan received the prestigious award after submitting a story about the children of Cambodia. His prize for winning the competition was the opportunity to embark on a whirlwind travel assignment to WA’s Coral Coast, that included visits to many of the State’s most iconic landmarks.

On his trip he was accompanied by Thyrys, a fellow finalist, and Mogens Johansen, a professional photographer and experienced travel writer.

Australia’s Coral Coast tourism team sponsored the competition and personally supported the assignment which included: spotting humpback whales off the Abrolhos Islands, enjoying a morning tea on East Wallabi Island, flying over the Pink Lake at Port Gregory and exploring the gorges of Kalbarri National Park.
