Class of 1991 25 year reunion – Saturday 28 May
Published on: 5 August 2016
Fifty of Christ Church’s finest and brightest from the class of 1991 descended on the Perth CBD on Saturday 28 May. The Trustee on St Georges Terrace put on a sumptuous affair with beer and wine flowing freely. Catching up with old mates and tall stories was the order of the day with local patrons considering a romantic night out looking on in amazement at this boisterous crowd.
The Christ Church crowd were very well behaved, with a number of gents charming the more attractive members of the Trustee staff ensuring some excellent wine service during the evening. In fact, it is understood that Christian Martin was not seen throughout the evening without a bottle of wine in his hand or an empty glass. Also caught up in the enthusiasm of the evening was Gus Lee-Steere who seemed to be everywhere even apparently making an appearance in the kitchen at one point claiming he was looking for the “toilet”.
After having our fill of red wine, fine beers and culinary delights the group moved from the Trustee to Bobs Bar, named after Western Australian icon of the 80s Bob Hawke. Just like Bob we drank and lifted the bar a little before pushing the boat out a little further. However, Gus Lee-Steere, having decided that the night was yet young, made the unanimous decision for the crowd that there were other bars to conquer. So from Bobs Bar the crowd moved to Helvetica, the Halford Bar and other nefarious nightspots through to the early hours of the morning.
Full credit to James Hammond, Kane Williamson, Marcus Canning and Nick Day who organised an event that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Andrew Baird from the Old Boys’ Association whose work on the event was outstanding.
