Wall of Captains!

Another connection between past and present students has been created through a new set of sports honour boards in the Gymnasium Precinct. The boards are the 2014 gift to the School from the OBA.
The series of honour boards includes a history of the school’s PSA premiership wins and the captains of each sport dating back as far as 1957 when Christ Church joined the PSA.
The gift also includes a board featuring motivational quotes from three inspirational old boys – cricket and hockey player and hockey super coach Ric Charlesworth (1969 – pictured left), former Olympic gold medal winner Bill Kirby (1992 – pictured right) and world championship rower Todd Skipworth (2002).
The gift has been well received by the boys. Director of Sport Anthony Lynch said the new boards had created real interest and had even given boys a goal to aim towards. “Not only do the boys stop and look at the new honour boards but some of them have said ‘my name will be up there soon!’”
President of the OBA Adam Collins said he hoped the boards provided a strong visible connection to the past and the school’s strong sporting culture.
The honour boards, installed a month ago, already need updating after the 2014 First VIII Head of the River win!
