Welcome to Term 3. I was glad to witness our students in good spirits and wearing their uniform with pride on Tuesday as they returned from holidays. It is always nice to catch up and exchange holiday stories before settling into the routines of another busy and exciting term. Overall, student presentation was excellent, and I am sure the local businesses welcomed the extra patronage and demand for haircuts. The odd presentation reminder to start the term is often necessary, however, and parent support with reinforcing our high presentation standards is always appreciated.
During the holidays, parents will have received their son’s academic reports. It is important that our Senior School students take the time to read this report carefully, and in consultation with classroom teachers, Tutors, and parents, ensure any areas of improvement are targeted promptly for better outcomes. A review of their goals set at the beginning of the year is important, and for some this may mean restating these goals for the coming term. What is important is that our students take responsibility for their performance and constantly plan their time to be organised and ready to meet the challenges that lie ahead. The Tutors are looking forward to the various conversations with you and your son at the upcoming Parent Student Tutor evening.
This morning, I spoke with our Year 11 cohort inviting them to apply for 2024 Prefect positions. Should your son wish to pursue such a role, he will need to review the information on Student Nexus carefully, have a discussion with his Head of House, and complete an online application form. We look forward to receiving these applications.
As we look towards the final few weeks of fixtures; there are a few tight contests as far as the PSA ladder goes, with Badminton, Cross Country, Hockey, and Soccer currently in first place. Best of luck to everyone involved in the remaining rounds and we hope to see lots of blue and gold out supporting especially with a big round this weekend on Hale grounds which might determine some final standings.
The rescheduled House Teams Carnival will go ahead next Thursday afternoon, and I would like to take the opportunity to remind students to wear their House shirts and to ensure if they are playing AFL to remember their mouthguard. Let’s hope the weather provides us with the basis for a wonderful afternoon.
