This morning I attended the Prep School’s nativity play and assembly, which each year seems to signal the beginning of the end of the school year. As always, it was beautiful and engaging with our youngest boys singing, dancing and really enjoying themselves. Congratulations to all the boys and thank you to the staff members who made today possible, your creative input and guidance always makes this a highlight of the year.
2018 has been another wonderfully successful year in the life of the School. We should be very proud of the boys for what they have achieved this year across all our years, from Pre-Primary to Year 12. It is this time of year when the teachers have an enormous amount to do – including marking exams, writing reports and keeping the class focused for the final few weeks of term. I would like to thank every one of our teachers for the outstanding job they do every day in motivating our boys to learn and encouraging them to be the best they can be. I would also like to thank our support staff who not only assist our teaching staff but also add to the all-round education of our students.
At each November meeting of the School Council, it considers the budget for the following year. These deliberations take into account three ongoing and consistent pressures that directly impact the setting of our comprehensive, all-inclusive fee for the following year and the medium to long-term planning of the School. These are the levels of funding, planned staffing levels and the costs associated with running the School. With the consideration of these factors, and our focus on delivering value, the School Council has determined that fees in 2019 will rise by 2.5 per cent. Our latest Fees schedule and policy can be found here. Should you have any issues associated with fees now or in the future, please do not hesitate to email the Finance Office ARFinance@ccgs.wa.edu.au.
We have a wonderful community and every year we hold a number of events for families. In 2019, we will have the official opening of the new Prep School which will be held on Wednesday 6 February in the early evening, Jazz on the Green a welcome picnic for all families on Sunday 17 February, and on Saturday 18 May together with St Hilda’s, we are holding a combined parent cocktail party at the Royal Fresh Water Bay Yacht Club. More details on all of the above will be communicated closer to the time.
Finally, let me finish this last newsletter for the year with a heartfelt thank you to the entire community regarding support this year as the School has been very busy. We have progressed the Prep School build, River Precinct development, implementation of the Year 9 Program and so much more. Next year will be a year of consolidation, when we will maintain our focus on excellence and embark on fewer major projects.
My warmest wishes for a wonderful, safe and refreshing holiday period for you and your family.
