Tomorrow we welcome the end of another great term, it seems to have passed by very quickly which is an indication of the busyness of the School. Before we conclude there are a few things to share with you.
It was a great day for the Senior School yesterday who held their House Team Carnival at our St John’s Wood playing fields. Congratulations to all of the boys from Year 7 to 12 who demonstrated great sportsmanship and enjoyed the competition. It has been a magical term for Christ Church in the sporting domain.
Sadly, In 2017 we experienced a spate of bike thefts and the past few weeks have seen a repeat of this. I ask that all boys use a high quality ‘D’ lock to secure their bikes at school. These thefts are nothing more than a short term ‘grab for cash’. To address this anti-social behaviour we have moved the bike racks deeper into the School grounds and have installed security fences between Queenslea Dr and the bikes. I would encourage boys to continue to ride to school, and take the necessary precautions to ensure their bikes are safe.
We regularly upgrade the security of the School and this week we erected signage at designated locations to convey the message to those entering the campus that we have surveillance. To date our ‘virtual fence’ around the School has served us well and I hope to maintain an open campus as long as it is feasible.
On the first day of school in Term 2, Tuesday 30 April, we will be revealing four new symbols for our Preparatory School Houses at 8.30am in Manjar Square. Families are welcome to join us for the event and learn more about the origin of the Houses:
Yellow – Karda or Goanna
Green – Wardung or Australian Raven
Blue – Kearla or Dolphin
Red – Yonga or Kangaroo
At the beginning of Term Two all boys must be wearing Winter Uniform. Can you please ensure your son also has his hair cut and it is neat and above the shirt collar. It must also be worn off the face and should not obstruct his sight, be worn tucked behind his ears or tied back.
Thank you for your assistance with the above matters.
I would like to wish all families a wonderful and relaxing break. The two-week holiday is an ideal opportunity for students to recharge their batteries, connect with family and friends, reflect on what they have achieved so far and start planning for Term 2.
