  • 20/20 Vision Senior School Art Exhibition opens
  • Christ Church in Katanning this weekend
  • House Regatta
  • Covid smart – No handshaking

This year we have been celebrating the School’s 110th birthday and on 14 November we will be holding another birthday celebration, this time commemorating 50 years since the construction of the School’s iconic Chapel. During the event we will recognise Reverend Frank Sheehan’s decades of service in the School and the wider Anglican community as Father Frank will officially retire at the end of the 2020 school year.

Please join us at the Chapel’s 50 Year celebration, which will include a video narrated by Father Frank titled ‘If these walls could talk’ capturing poignant Chapel events and moments. Please register your attendance via this link.

Today I toured the Art Department gallery spaces as they finalised their preparations for the 2020 Senior School Art Exhibition which opens tonight at 6.00pm in the Chapel. The space is full with fabulous art works and installations, I highly recommend you attend. This year the Art Department are introducing a 3D virtual exhibition tour, which will be available next week should you be unable to attend.

On Saturday we have staff representing the School in Katanning at the regional show. Boarding is such an important part of the School’s offering and during these visits we catch up with people known to us and also forge new relationships. We are currently planning the 2021 regional visits and I hope to see many of our regional families next year when I am travelling throughout WA. We are keen to visit communities and host events, and if you would like to see us in your region or town please send an email to admissions@ccgs.wa.edu.au.

The House Regatta, which signals the start of the Rowing season, will be held at the River Precinct on Sunday commencing at 8.30am. I look forward to seeing how our boys perform after their pre-season training program.

As we approach the end of the year we are going to have many events which celebrate student success and that have in the past involved “the handshake”. As a nation, we are not yet out of the woods regarding Covid-19 and seem to be in an uncertain period with some handshaking and others not. I ask that we maintain a consistent approach within our community and that we do not shake hands for the remainder of the year.
