The last week of Term 2 is a busy one for the students and staff. As staff finalise the Semester 1 Academic Reports, boys are busy with a range of activities.
On Tuesday, our Year 6 cohort took part in their first Senior School transition event: The Building Good Men (BGM) talk. The boys listened to a group of Year 12 Prefects talk about the different aspects of being a Senior School student. The topics included PSA sport, House events, tutorials, academic subject selection, lockers and many more. After the talk, the boys were able to ask questions of the prefects to clarify any unanswered issues. The Year 12 Prefects were knowledgeable and approachable, and were a wonderful first impression to the Senior School. As the year progresses, the Year 6 students will take part in many transition events to ensure they are prepared and ready to begin their journey in the Senior School.
Also on Tuesday, the IPSHA Chess Competition was held at Guildford Grammar School. Christ Church performed exceptionally well, taking out the best-performing school overall. Congratulations to Aayun Batahena (1st place), Dhruv Sanjay (2nd place), Vishnu Vyhunthan (4th place) and Christian Thong (10th place), and a thank you to Mr Dawson for taking the team to Guildford for the day.
Tuesday evening saw students perform at the Winter Music Concert held in the Chapel. This annual event is one of the highlights of the music calendar, with a range of performances from the Preparatory School Ensembles.
Yonga House held its fundraiser in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation by running a silent disco. All boys who participated enjoyed collating playlists and dancing to their favourite tunes for an important cause.
Finally, the Inter-house Mario Kart Championship was held in Manjar Square with boys furiously trying to win for their House. Karda was named the champion, with Wardung in a very close second place.
Thank you to all boys and staff for their efforts in making Term 2 a very successful term. I wish all families a restful break, and I look forward to seeing you in Term 3.
