Celebrating academic achievements
House Swimming Carnival
Growing through Excellence

The Preparatory School Awards Assembly takes place this Friday where boys will be recognised for their exceptional achievements across a range of academic competitions. Boys will be recognised from the following academic competitions: ICAS English, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies, Writing and Spelling, The Maths Olympiad, The Kangourou sans Frontier Mathematics Competition, The Australian Mathematics Competition, the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition and the Maths Explorer. In all, 101 students will be recognised for distinctions, high distinctions and medals. We are very proud of their achievements, and we look forward to acknowledging their efforts on Friday. Parents of all recipients are invited to attend this assembly.

Next Tuesday boys will participate in their House Swimming Carnival. The Pre-Primary to Year 2 event commences at 9.00am with the Years 3 to 6 carnival commencing at 11.00am. As one of the last House events for the year, students will be eager to try their best to earn valuable house points to see which House will be awarded the Giles Shield. We encourage all boys to try their best and cheer on their fellow House mates.

Last week, students in Years 2 to 6 participated in the final Vertical House Group (VHG) session of 2025. This session focused on the School value for Term 4, Excellence, and the positive effects of having a growth mindset. Boys were asked to document a goal for the end of the year and describe how they would achieve this goal. VHG allows boys to learn more about the School’s values and interact with other year groups. This helps our boys foster a feeling of security and connectedness within our school.

Help us give the gift of joy this Christmas to children who are experiencing sickness, disadvantages, or living with disability. During Week 5 and 6 (Monday 10 to Friday 21 November), donate a new, up to $20 unwrapped toy (ages 2 to 12), and place it in the assigned toy bins around the School.

These toys will be donated to Variety WA, which will pass them on to children living in difficult circumstances and unable to receive gifts from their own families this Christmas.

Year 1 2026 transition event

While the transition to Year 1 is an exciting time for our Pre-Primary students and families, it can also be a challenge for our 5 and 6 year olds. They need to adjust to new environments and expectations, different teachers, more freedom and choice at break times, and to navigate new and old friendships.

As a part of our transition program, we would like to invite all Pre-Primary parents to a morning with the 2026 Year 1 teachers and Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2 Year Group Co-ordinator, Mrs Chantal Widdicombe. This will be an informal get-together for you to ask questions and seek clarification on topics relating to the progression of Pre-Primary boys to Year 1 at Christ Church.

Year 3 2026 Uniform

As your son transitions into Year 3, he will require a more formal Preparatory School uniform. Please refer to the Years 3 to 6 Uniform list.

Booking a fitting appointment ensures families are assisted outside the shops normal trading hours, which enables staff to adequately prepare for the visit. Appointments take approximately 30 minutes.

If you are unable to secure an appointment, the Unform Shop will be happy to assist you in store during regular trading hours. We strongly encourage parents and their sons without an appointment to visit the Uniform Shop before the last trading day of the year.

Years 3 to 6 House Swimming Carnival

This will be held on Tuesday 11 November from 11.25am in the Aquatic Precinct. For more information, click here. Carnival program details can be found here and the competitor divisions here.

Year 3 Cricket Carnival – Thursday 20 November

All Year 3 boys will be participating in the Cricket Carnival with Hale School, Aquinas and Scotch College. Students will each play two games of eight-a-side “Super-8’s” cricket, with the first game scheduled to start at approximately 1.00pm and the second game to commence at approximately 1.45pm. Please be aware that scores will not be kept as this is a participation-based event. The purpose of these carnivals is to further develop sportsmanship, respect for others and character and to have fun. It must be remembered that these carnivals are designed to cater for students of all abilities and experience levels.

When: Thursday 20 November
Time: 12.45pm to 2.30pm
Where: Hale School
To bring: Normal PE/sport uniform, hat, and clearly labelled water bottle.

All boys should come to school dressed in their correct sports uniform on the day. Boys should wear their CCGS shirt, not their house shirt.

Preparatory School Music Bursaries 2026

The Music Department is delighted to offer twelve music bursaries each year on selected instruments to boys in Years 5 or 6 in 2026 who have shown enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication in classroom music lessons. As an initiative to raise the profile and build the music program, each bursary student will contribute to one or more music club or ensembles throughout their Preparatory and Senior schooling. 2026 Year 5 and 6 AFL Sports Tour to Melbourne

We are excited to announce the upcoming Year 5 and 6 Australian Rules Football Tour to Melbourne in August 2026. Building on the success of our previous tours in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2024, we anticipate another unforgettable experience for the students.

The itinerary for the tour is designed to provide a well-rounded and enriching experience. The highlights of the tour will include attending AFL matches, exploring the Victoria Street Markets, participating in a match against Melbourne Grammar, navigating the unique Melbourne public transport system and taking a tour of the iconic MCG and National Sports Museum.

The tour is scheduled to depart on Thursday 20 August and return on Monday 24 August, coinciding with the mid-term break of Term 3.

To gauge interest and begin the planning process, we kindly ask you to register your son’s interest by emailing bleckie@ccgs.wa.edu.au. Please be aware that due to logistical constraints, we can only accommodate a limited number of participants, and therefore, the tour will be limited to 22 students.

As we await final budget numbers, we look forward to the tour being a safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all participants.

Year 4 Basketball Carnival – 13 November

All Year 4 students will be participating in the Basketball Carnival with Hale School and Scotch College. Students will each play three games of basketball (two 14-minute halves) with the first game scheduled to start at approximately 12.55pm and the last game to conclude around 2.35pm. Please be aware that scores will not be kept as this is a participation-based event. The purpose of the carnival program is to further develop sportsmanship, respect for others, and character, while also having fun. It must be remembered that these carnivals are designed to cater for students of all abilities and experience levels.

Please note, due to the number of students involved, the carnival is split across two venues. This way, students will have maximum participation. Your son will either be playing at Bendat or Warwick.

Time: 12.45pm to 2.40pm (Warwick carnival will finish slightly earlier)
Venue: Bendat Basketball Stadium or Warwick Stadium

Preparatory School Music Bursaries 2026

The Music Department is delighted to offer twelve music bursaries each year on selected instruments to boys in Years 5 or 6 in 2026 who have shown enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication in classroom music lessons. As an initiative to raise the profile and build the music program, each bursary student will contribute to one or more music club or ensembles throughout their Preparatory and Senior schooling. 2026 Year 5 and 6 AFL Sports Tour to Melbourne

We are excited to announce the upcoming Year 5 and 6 Australian Rules Football Tour to Melbourne in August 2026. Building on the success of our previous tours in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2024, we anticipate another unforgettable experience for the students.

The itinerary for the tour is designed to provide a well-rounded and enriching experience. The highlights of the tour will include attending AFL matches, exploring the Victoria Street Markets, participating in a match against Melbourne Grammar, navigating the unique Melbourne public transport system and taking a tour of the iconic MCG and National Sports Museum.

The tour is scheduled to depart on Thursday 20 August and return on Monday 24 August, coinciding with the mid-term break of Term 3.

To gauge interest and begin the planning process, we kindly ask you to register your son’s interest by emailing bleckie@ccgs.wa.edu.au. Please be aware that due to logistical constraints, we can only accommodate a limited number of participants, and therefore, the tour will be limited to 22 students.

As we await final budget numbers, we look forward to the tour being a safe, enjoyable and educational experience for all participants.

Karda Christmas Toy Drive

Help us give the gift of joy this Christmas to children who are experiencing sickness, disadvantages, or living with disability. During Week 5 and 6 (Monday 10 to Friday 21 November), donate a new, up to $20 unwrapped toy (ages 2 to 12), and place it in the assigned toy bins around the School.

These toys will be donated to Variety WA, which will pass them on to children living in difficult circumstances and unable to receive gifts from their own families this Christmas.

Year 6 – Term 4 Events

End of Year 6 Adventure World Party
Date: Sunday 23 November
Time: 10.00am to 5.00pm
Venue: Adventure World, 351 Progress Drive, Bibra Lake
Tickets: Tickets are available directly on the Adventure World website here
Event Information: This is an optional activity to celebrate the end of Preparatory School together. Day tickets must be purchased for the date of 23/11/2025 on the Adventure World website and you can choose to add Unlimited or Single-Shot (one time queue skip per ride) Fast Passes. If your child is under 12 they must be accompanied by an adult (16+) who will also need a ticket. Adventure World does not require children aged 12 and above to enter with an adult. Food and drinks can be brought from home or purchased on site. We will have a marquee set up for shade on the Lagoon Lawn for our group and will be taking a group photo at a designated time. Boys will need sun protection (including rashie, sunscreen and hat), bathers, a towel and their printed entry pass and we recommend not bringing any valuables (including watches which are not permitted on some slides) or securing valuables in a hired locker on site. If you are coming as a supervising parent, please feel free to bring picnic rugs or chairs or enjoy any of the slides and rides yourself!

Event Information: Please gather at the beach in school uniform (whatever they are wearing already or change into leavers/sports uniform) by 1.30pm for a final group run into the ocean to celebrate the end of Preparatory School. Following the ocean run you are welcome to stay for a beach picnic (BYO) with other families to begin the summer holidays.

Master Mind January Jump Start Program

Master Mind is hosting their January Jump Start Program for all students entering Years 11 and 12 in 2026. These group sessions aim to prepare students for the new academic year before the commencement of school in February. The subject-specific classes offer students a revision of those difficult concepts from the 2025 syllabus, which later become the foundation for the new work they will encounter in the new year. They also offer students a ‘window’ into the units and learning areas they will encounter in Term 1, 2026. The program also offers a six-hour Study Skills and a six-hour Essay Writing class. Term 4 Expectations for Year 11s

ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 11 ATAR students in the coming weeks.
- Weeks 4 to 5: Classes and assessments as normal; teachers will still be delivering course content and revising for the exams in Week 4 and on Monday 10 November
- Week 5: Students are on Study Leave from Tuesday 11 through Thursday 13 November. Students can work at home or come into school to utilise the Refectory study. (The ARC will not be accessible due to building works). Should they wish to meet with a staff member, they should email the teacher in advance to organise this. Students need to wear school uniform when attending the campus. Please note that some practical and oral examinations will be held during this time. Please remember CCGS is a phone-free campus – phones must be kept in lockers, this includes when studying on campus or attending examinations.
- The Semester 2 Examinations start on Friday 14 November and finish on Wednesday 26 November. Any student who is too ill to sit an exam needs to see a doctor and submit a Medical Certificate within 48 hours of the missed assessment.
- The 27 and 28 November are student-free days. Regular timetabled classes for Year 11 students re-commence on Monday 2 December.
Non-ATAR students

Parents are asked to note the following details of the School’s processes and expectations for Year 11 Non-ATAR students as we near the end of term:

2026 Parent Representatives

The Parents’ Association is seeking volunteers for the position of Year Group Parent Representatives for 2026.

This is a fantastic way to get involved in the school community and create connections with other families. The primary role of a parent representative is to organise social events for parents and families within their year group, and to occasionally volunteer to assist with other Parents’ Association events. If you would like to become involved, please fill out the following form and we will be in touch before the end of term.

Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting

All parents are warmly invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Christ Church Grammar School Parents’ Association on Wednesday 12 November at 7.00pm in the Senior School Staff Room (see G11 on the campus map).

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents, hear updates from the Association, and consider joining the committee. New parents are especially encouraged to get involved.

Future Doctors Australia Program

This program provides a unique, hands-on opportunity for students who are passionate about a future in medicine. This program is designed to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed on their path to a medical career.

Senior School Art Exhibition

The Christ Church community is warmly invited to the opening of the 2025 Senior School Art Exhibition.

Join us in celebrating the exceptional creativity and talent of our students. Showcasing works from painting and sculpture to digital design, the exhibition reflects the rich diversity of artistic expression within our Senior School.

The exhibition space will be open from Wednesday 22 October to Friday 21 November between 9.00am to 3.00pm, and all are welcome to explore the artworks during this period.

Rock Workshop Extravaganza

Date: Sunday 9 November
Time: 3.00pm to 6.30pm
Venue: Christ Church Chapel Forecourt

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Passaparola Pizzeria, with thanks to Friends of Music for organising. You are also welcome to bring your own food, drinks, and picnic rug if you wish.

This promises to be an amazing afternoon of music and I encourage you to extend an invite to family and friends.

UCAT Preparation

Students intending on applying to study Medicine or Dentistry at University in 2028 will need to sit the UCAT in 2027. MedEntry is a provider of UCAT preparation programs.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Academic Insights Program at St Paul’s College at the University of Sydney from 4 to 17 January 2026. This program would be suitable for students currently in Years 9, 10 and 11.

Personalised ATAR examination timetables

Year 12 students are required to log into the SCSA Student Portal and download their personalised ATAR examination timetables. Here are some important points to note:
- This is the ‘ticket’ into every ATAR exam, along with valid photo ID, so it is very important
- This needs to be checked carefully. If there is an exam listed and your son has dropped that subject, if your son’s name is spelt incorrectly, or if any other detail is wrong, please inform the Studies Office
- Students need to sign it and bring it to every ATAR exam
- Students need to check their timetable online the night before each exam
Year 12 ATAR Examinations

Students enrolled in Year 12 ATAR courses are required to sit the Authority’s examinations in those courses. Students who do not complete the examination will not be considered to have completed the course; the course will not be counted for any element of the WACE, nor will the pair of units for the Year 12 course appear on the student’s West Australian Statement of Student Achievement.

Access to the parent portal after 2025

We would like to advise parents that access to academic records on Nexus will cease towards the end of this year. We would therefore recommend that parents and boys take this opportunity to download and save copies of previous school reports and other records for future use.

Prospective Medical and Dental Students

If you are a rural/regional applicant and believe that your ATAR score will be competitive (ideally approximately 93+), or if you are a non-rural applicant and believe that your ATAR and UCAT scores will be competitive (ideally approximately 96+), please consider doing the following:

1. Apply to multiple universities across Australia. Do not limit your options by just applying to your local university.

2. Interview training is paramount! If you have not engaged in any interview training, please do so immediately. The first step is to take part in one of our Comprehensive Interview Training Workshops. From there, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to continue your own preparation, or if you need more help, you can book 1-on-1 personalised interview coaching with NIE.

UWA Engineering Excellence Scholarship

UWA provides this scholarship of $10000 to eligible high-achieving Year 12 students (ATAR of at least 90) to undertake undergraduate studies in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Combined bachelor’s degrees that include the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

Curtin Excellence Scholarship

The Curtin Excellence Scholarship rewards students who have demonstrated academic excellence through their ATAR in 2025 and want to pursue study at Curtin University. $5000 is awarded to students who achieve an ATAR between 96 and 98, and $15000 is awarded to students who achieve an ATAR of 98 or above.

2026 MSC Traineeship Program

MSC is offering an exciting traineeship opportunity for one Year 12 graduate in each state, commencing in February 2026. Successful applicants will gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III in Business (fully funded by MSC).
