This week the Preparatory School is celebrating Book Week. The Children’s Book Council of Australia have chosen the theme ‘Reading is My Secret Power.’ Find out more information about the ‘Book of the Year’ and see what may be an interesting read for your son. As part of the week Mrs Kate Marshall, Ms Sophie Smith and the entire library team have provided a range of activities for all age groups; use your secret power to solve the code and find the secret surprise, Drop Everything And Read, decorating a giant Escher, lunchtime story time, Reader’s Night in pyjamas, culminating in the Book Week Assembly.

On Wednesday 21 August, 27 Year 5 and 6 boys from Christ Church attended the WA Primary Schools’ Orienteering Championships at Manning Park in Spearwood. Nearly 500 students attended the event, completing courses set in the parkland around the lake and on the paths in the adjacent hills. Despite not having entrants in the girls’ classes, Christ Church won the Championship Shield. Congratulations to Mrs Feaver and the following boys:

The IPSHA Spelling Bee was held at St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School on 27 August. Darcy Brinkman-Gray (4CT), Elliott Ho (4GW), Vidarsha Jayasinghe (5CF), Samuel Ramachandran (5CF), Frederick Dharsono (6HP) and Jake Hashem (6JM) put their spelling skills to the test and tackled some very challenging words.

Today is the annual Father/Friend and Son fixture where fathers and special friends will dust off their sporting skills to try and claim victory against the boys in what is a fun and entertaining afternoon of sport to bring our winter sports season to an end.
