Ms Jay Waugh has worked in the theatre and film industry for over 25 years. In that time she has worked with Ewan McGregor, Sumi Jo and Hugh Jackman on stage productions, films and TV series such as; Moulin Rouge, Sesame Street and Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.

For the last 15 years she has been working for The Midnite Youth Theatre Company as Resident Costume Designer. In that time Jay has worked with over 20 directors and on over 60 productions.

A costume designer performs a key role in the development of any performance. From the sideline, it may look like all a costume designer does is pick the clothing an actor wears when performing. In truth, the choice of attire is more than window dressing. The Costume Designer will make sure that the costume, as well as the accessories, reflect the vibe, personality and story of culture, character, age, relationship and position. They have to carefully read the script and determine the costumes to fit the narrative.

The role of a Costume Designer consists of research, design, sewing and drawing costumes for stage shows, movies, theatres and productions.
