Kearla House recently hosted ‘The Great Book Swap’ fundraiser in Manjar Square as their House service initiative for the year. Students came to peruse a wide variety of secondhand books in their Year groups throughout the morning, which were generously donated by our Preparatory families.

This fundraiser was the first of its kind for the Preparatory School, but with our young students’ passion for reading, it was a huge hit with the hundreds of eager visitors.

Preparatory Teacher and Kearla House Co-ordinator Sam Healy commented on the event’s success, “Reading is an integral part of every child’s learning and is a huge focus in our Preparatory School. I am thrilled that Kearla students hosted such an impactful fundraiser that supports the School’s stance on reading by offering other children an opportunity to develop their reading skills.”

The $1197 raised will go directly to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The fantastic initiative was unique in that it encouraged students to read, all while supporting a very worthy cause.
