Year 6 student Ayun Batahena has achieved a remarkable feat in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee, securing the highest School Round ranking in Western Australia and placing 5th nationally in the Orange level (Years 5 to 6). Ayun received a perfect score of 30/30, completed in just 1 minute and 20.765 seconds, standing out among 82,000 competitors nationwide.
The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee is a highly competitive event, with students progressing through state and national rounds. The final winner earns the opportunity to fly to Canberra and meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Ayun’s achievement not only highlights his exceptional spelling skills but also his speed and focus under pressure. Alongside him, 14 other students from our Christ Church have advanced to the next round.
Ayun shared, “I love the excitement of the competition and enjoyed typing the words quickly. It’s more engaging than other spelling bees, and I hope to do well in the next round!”
