Last week, the Class of 2026 celebrated the end of their time at Christ Church, sharing one final week with their mates before turning their attention to exams and life beyond the School.

The celebrations began on Tuesday at Mount Claremont playing fields, where the boys swapped textbooks for mini golf, inflatable soccer and sumo wrestling. Free from assessments and timetables, it was a chance to relax and enjoy time together as a year group.

On Wednesday evening, the Year 12 boarders and their families gathered in Sandover Dining Hall for the annual Boarding Dinner, sharing memories of their time in the Boarding House. This year, the School farewelled 14 boarders who have been an important part of the Christ Church community.

Thursday morning brought the Final Assembly and Prize Giving. As the Class of 2026 made their way into the Chapel, Preparatory School students lined the path to form a guard of honour. For the younger boys, it was a glimpse of what lies ahead. For the Year 12 students, it was a moment to reflect on how far they had come.

Inside the Chapel, the School recognised the cohort’s achievements across academics, leadership, sport and community service. The boys then joined together for the Linga before signing each other’s shirts and exchanging messages and memories.

The week culminated in the Valedictory Service and Dinner, bringing the Class of 2026, their families and staff together in the transformed Blue Gym to celebrate the occasion. We extend our sincere thanks to the parent volunteers who helped prepare for the evening.

A special moment during the evening was the ringing of the Christ Church bell, a longstanding School tradition. On their first day at the School, new students ring the bell to mark the beginning of their time as a Christ Church boy. Years later, the Year 12s ring it as they prepare to leave, marking the end of their school years and the beginning of everything to come next.
