Christ Church has reclaimed the PSA Chess Championship after defeating Scotch College 4 to 1 in a thrilling final-round showdown last Friday.

Hosting this year’s competition, Christ Church entered the final round knowing the winner of the match would be crowned PSA Champions. With three of the five boards coming down to the final minute on the clock, the team held its nerve to secure the title.

Teacher in Charge of Chess, Jack Damon, said the result was a fitting reward for the team’s commitment throughout the season.

“I’m incredibly proud of the boys. They put in a tremendous amount of work throughout the season, and to see that effort rewarded was fantastic. Oscar led the team exceptionally well, and every player made an important contribution to the result.” he said.

Christ Church has now won the PSA Chess Championship 16 times in the past 17 years.

Congratulations to Captain Oscar Gao, Tommy Crage, Archie Darlow, Tristan McDonald, Henry Stokes and Ares Yin on an outstanding achievement.
