Christ Church was filled with energy and generosity yesterday as students, families, staff and old boys came together for Giving Day in support of the School’s Scholarship Fund and PERFORM. As the tally rose throughout the day, it was a powerful reflection of what can be achieved when a community unites for a shared goal. Together, our community has so far raised an incredible $660,000.

More than a fundraising initiative, Giving Day was an opportunity to actively model the values of service, gratitude and contribution across the School.

In the lead-up, Senior School students took part in the Giving Day House Challenge, encouraged to earn money to donate. The response was outstanding, with boys taking on jobs at home and in their communities – washing cars, mowing lawns, helping neighbours and completing extra chores to raise funds for others. On Giving Day, this effort was reflected in a strong wave of student-led giving.

In the Preparatory School, students explored the ideas of giving through stories and conversation. Principal Alan Jones joined a Year 2 class, where students reflected on what it means to care for others and make a positive difference in everyday life.

Older preparatory students also were read James Holloway’s Life-Changing Experience, a story written by the School for the purpose of Giving Day, which sparked discussions about opportunity, gratitude and the impact a scholarship can have on a young person’s future. Thanks to the generosity of matching donors, every gift was doubled, significantly increasing the impact of each contribution and helping the School move closer to its goal.

While Giving Day has now concluded, the donation page will remain open until the end of the weekend, offering one final opportunity to support the Scholarship Fund, PERFORM, and the students who will benefit from them. Donate here.

Thank you to our entire community for coming together with such generosity and spirit to make Giving Day a resounding success.
